Kahlran's golden eyes pierced the darkness, the fur on his neck bristled, he had caught the scent of prey. From what he could tell, it was a large herd of white-tailed deer, there were no sick or young deer among them, this would not be an easy hunt. But however hard it was, he thought, his pack's cunning and strength could overcome it. With a valiant swish of his tail, he assembled his pack, they each took their places around the trees, they had done this a thousand times. And none of them were willing to let the pack go hungry tonight. Kahlran's breath quickened, he tensed his muscles, and gestured his head in the direction of the herd. Like ghosts, they moved silently through the forest, the deer would never hear them coming.

Rages head lowered into stalking mode, he stayed quite following in line towards the deer...

Eiji, beside Kahlran stepped softly. The pups were behind them, watching how to hunt as they would soon be learning it.

As the pack edged closer, the deer soon came into view. It was a massive herd, full of healthy deer, they were big. Kahlran just hoped they wouldn't fight back. He quivered, longing to dart at the deer, but he knew he couldn't, their task now was to get as close to the herd as they could, without being seen. Passing a look to Eiji and Rage, he signaled for them to come to both his right and left wing, he was starting to single out a deer, a good-sized buck, a yearling, with two little tines resting majestically upon his fuzzy head. It was quietly grazing a few yards from the nearest deer. It would be enough to separate him. All the while, Kahlran was edging slowly closer, delicately padding as quietly as was possible. His muscles tensed as the deer sighted them, and the encounter began.
